Re: How many inches do you have?

Another 3 or 4 inches last night and Scotland has come to a standstill. Have not managed to get to work for the last 6 days and it's becoming a pain in the butt! Have dug the car out more times than i care to recall including being towed by a land rover. Let it melt, let it melt, let it melt. I kno...

Re: Is it just me????

Doesn't sound like much fun! I agree with the suggestion about doing some voluntary work, that may help. We're the same round here, been in this house nearly 10 years and only really speak to our next door neighbour. The only other person I was friendly with moved away 8 years ago! Never been in any...

Re: How many inches do you have?

Barely stopped all day here. I made it to work only to be sent home at lunch time (no complaints!)

Hubby didn't make it and spent hours shovelling snow so he try and get the car out tomorrow.

think we may have as much as 20 inches out there, with more in the drift bits!

Re: Little things that really annoy you!

Charity bags and takeaway leaflets here too. The really annoying thing about the charity bags is they come in almost daily and although for different charities they are all delivered/picked up by the same "white van man"!! We have several charity shops and multiple clothing banks so why th...

Re: In what ways aren't you green?

Hmm... Well I used to only buy second hand clothes and since deciding to move up to scotland I have gone on a bit of a waterproof shopping spree. I think my eco sins might rapidly increas next year as I haven't flown for 5 years and I don't drive but I wonder if the move up North will put pay to th...

Re: In what ways aren't you green?

Too many to list, not doing very well in the green stakes right now. we have 2 vehicles, we use way too much electricity (i'm pretty sure the teenager actually runs off the stuff!) and there are simply too many chemicals in our house. On the plus side, with being skint we have reduced our needless b...

Re: Volunteering ideas

What about helping with a Rainbow/Brownie/Guide unit? Girlguiding are always after people to help, even on an occassional basis. AND people with finance skills are often needed to help with unit accounts. You can do as little or as much as suits your lifestyle. If you went for helping at a unit then...

Re: Who have you met?

Moving to Linlithgow at some point (when Emma gets a job), so get the kettle on. Cool, Linlithgow is just over the hill from us, got a farmers market and still manages to sustain some lovely independent stores despite being so close to the retail-hell that is Livingston. And I'm in the Central Belt...

Anyone else in the locality? We're in West Lothian, nice and central! ;-)

Would definitely like to meet more Ishers.

Re: Who taught you to cook?

Wow, you just reminded me of having to make a meal and lay the table for a brownie badge at about 10/11! I think it was the Hostess badge? That was before they modernised the badges to include computer skills and such like! Still got cooks and confectioner badges but with the added chocolate one (k...

Re: Who taught you to cook?

I learned some from my mum but I guess I just picked it up! Always liked making new things, sometimes use a recipe book and sometimes just try and see. I've let my daughter help since she was really young, and she has been able to make a meal herself since she was about 12 (makes a mean chiken korma...
