Re: Identify plant
I guess it could be. Hard to say. But it is prolific.

Re: Wheat species
Hi again This is the state of my (mostly barley) now http://www.thebreadcrumbtrail.org/gallery3/index.php/Misc-Travel/Eco-Living/Allotment/Wheat-Barley/Harvesting I read that you harvest when the stalks are yellow, and the head starts to dip. Well they're not all completely yellow. I'm worried about...

Can anyone identify this plant. Seems to keep springing up on my plot. Hopefully it's an edible weed

Re: Wheat species
Thanks to everyone for replies. Now i know what I have, makes life a lot easier.
I gather I just wait until the stalks turn brittle and yellow before harvesting barley and wheat?

Wheat species
Hi all I covered my allotment plot in straw. The farm where I bought it from, said the shoots popping up were left over wheat kernels. I wanted to grow wheat anyway, so I thought great. Now all the plants are fully grown, I've noticed I have three varieties of plant. I'm pretty sure I know which one...

Re: Homemade Vinegar
Hi, thanks for the reply. I'm in exactly the same situation you were in. Undrinkable homemade wine!! Can't see it go to waste. What I meant was, if the vinegar comes out too strong to use on salads e.g. say it was 10%; can I just dilute it with water until it tastes ok, or from a health point of vie...

Homemade Vinegar
I think I have just one question.
Rather than go through the process of titration, can you not just dilute the vinegar to taste?

Hi Chuck
How did you get on with the system. Is it up and running? I am wanting to do something very similar. Thanks

Which fruit & nut trees
Can I have some suggestions of the best small fruit and nut trees, lowest maintenance to grow I have an allotment plot 14ft x 45ft in SE London. Get a fair amount of sunshine. Site is exposed and soil has high clay content Site rules dictate a height of no more than about 8ft. I reckon I could get t...

I put my bag of Maris pipers I bought at the end of march in a cool dark shed and only pull them out the other day. They've grown the spindly white shoots. Are they any good to plant now? Can I salvage them. If so, how?

Re: Polythene - white or clear
Ok. I've had a day to view the results of what I've done. I guess I got a bit confused actually. When I started all this secondary "glazing/insulation" on the inside of my glass greenhouse it was cold and wet, espeically at night. Now I'm just finishing it, and this hot weather has come. M...
