I now know I'm getting old. My friend just sent me a picture of some hunks wearning not much for valentines day and I replied with the exciting news that I'd finished knitting a scarf. Where do I get those slippers?

Inflatable packaging

I've just received some goods that I ordered over the internet. Inside the box was the sort of packaging that is made of plastic "pillows". Long strips of plastic about 6 inches wide sealed at regular intervals and filled with air. I did think about a neck cushion for when I go to sleep at...

My mother told me that she threw a load of snails into the field at the bottom of her garden. A few days later there were lots of snails again. She wanted to see if it was the same ones coming back again so she painted their shells with nail varnish. Sure enough they returned. Now she still has a ga...

Hi Altica, please don't get this wrong, but I never understand why people want to get rid of Ants! Peter Hi Oh where do I start? Well they do bite and quite painful those bites are as well. You don't need to be deliberatly nasty to them. Even pruning or weeding in the general area of their nest wil...

Hi I'm amazed a the amount of work you have done. Congratulations. I too have very stony soil. As it is also clay I gave up trying to riddle it. Now I just spend a few minutes every now and again sat down with a cup of tea and pick off the largest by hand. The smaller ones help to break up the clay....

Hello fellow newbie!

I have always used shop bought potatoes and they've always been fine. I tend to buy a bag of potatoes and then not eat them all so I chuck em out on the garden and end up digging up potatoes for years in all sorts of odd places. It's quite fun when you get a surprise potato.

My mother told me that it was rude to take red or purple sweets when they were offered. You should only take the yellow, orange or green ones. It wasn't until I was nearly 30 that I realised that it was just cos she didn't like the citrus flavoured sweets

Ok - I know this is a really old thread but I still have a couple. I put some out as bird scarers last year. The weather removed the silver stuff and the label and now I have a whole bunch of clear plastic discs. We could almost start a new thread on what to do with those. Little round windows for d...

If you know a young lady with a dolls' house you can paint one white and use it as a bath. The softer butter one looks just like an old fashioned roll-top bath.

Big square ones are good as jaccuzis.

We have snow here in Swindon!

Enough to call snow as well - four or five inches. Several schools shut and many roads impassable.

The garden looks fab. It's the only time of the year that it looks tidy!

Cats aren't impressed though.

Ideal for mixing up small quantities of polyfilla.

Good for holding water when painting watercolours.

If the lid is good you can store small quantities of water based paint - jam jars are better cos you can see the colour.
