Re: Please help with a horse
In response to Happy hippie's question. It 's a bit like evaluating a course in the 5 mins before you are allowed to go home.. Next week ( Pumpkin&Piglet) will have one memory and next year another. What I would have loved is that that Pumpkin&Piglet could have gotten over the "hell I'm...

Re: Please help with a horse
Sorry I could not get back to you earlier. I agree with DND you are doing a grand job. I wonder what your reward will be? a nice hack perhaps? Your reference to peanut having been clipped would account for why she doesn't particularly enjoy the grooming. When clipped (electrically shaved) the hair i...

Re: Please help with a horse
Grooming Ok so the not wanting to be brushed maybe that she is thin skinned. Knowing how big she is and/or her breeding will give me a clue. If you are ”confidently swatting” her with a hard brush and she is thin skinned IT HURTS. Try using the bush on your own arm to judge how hard to groom. Becaus...

Re: Please help with a horse
Can i ask for a little more information? is she alone in the field i.e no other horses or sheep? If alone she will appreciate her routine even more than one that lives with company. If she lives with other equines when they get brought in people often wrongly think that she also wants to come in. Sh...

Re: Please help with a horse
So sorry for not spotting this earlier. I haven't been on for a few days. Don't worry if she is wearing a rug the rain won't bother her. The only fussy thing about rugs is that you are supposed to take them off daily to check that there have been no rucks or creases that could be uncomfortable ( lik...

Re: Actually making your own chocolate !
Thanks Jon, I use lard to make chips so have used it many times. I do like cheap chocolate but the knowledge that that is why chocolate is so fattening has never had such a clear link before. Suddenly I am a bit put off. So thanks

Actually making your own chocolate !
I saw this utube video and was curious. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bvGXslu2dxE I am asking for your advice. I want to know is it going to be expensive or cheap tasting chocolate ? also Is it questionable health wise? I ask this question because I did not know exactly what vegetable shortening wa...

Well would you believe I know of Nova Scotia.... Only because of the breed of dog. The dog looks a little like a Labrador or maybe a working collie but they are brown not black. Very controversial as the breed has only 9 bloodlines ( that's close). The dog is called the Nova Scotia duck Toller.. I h...

Re: kids with depression?
First and foremost I am replying to your post because I feel so bad for you and your son. I have never been a parent so cannot fully understand how troubled you must be. If I could though ask a personal question ? then explain why. Have you suffered from depression? I ask this because my understandi...

My "criticism " for what it's worth wasn't really criticism as much as I felt that Laurne's parents changed from in the first instance I thought her family was posh.. (violin lessons, her middle class style / Laurens approach to buying fancy magazines etc but when we finally met her parent...

Re: List of ponies urgently needing homes!
I've sent a small donation but quite honestly this is happening at every horse sale. Very young ponies and foals they are generally referred to as "bits of rubbish" because they are not ready to ride and not the cream of the blood lines for showing. The foals you would need to look after f...
