Re: Wind turbine trees

Around here,a small turbine powers many of the road signs.I've never heard them criticized for their appearance. Why would they be more of an eyesore than powerlines, neon signs, inhabitants of Kidderminster etc..?

Re: Potato chat and potato growing challenge

My days of ''It's not worth growing Maincrop cos they're cheaper to buy by the bag'' are history. This year I'm going for the lot.

Must say ,though that a significant reason for growing spuds is the great tilth it creates. So earthing up is important to me.

-43?...You sure you wouldn't be better off keeping penguins?

Seriously,Nice job. Would straw do as well as your insulation medium?

Would also do a decent job in hot climates.

Not so bonkers cooking pigs heads.
My reward for brawn making was always the pig cheeks..the best part of the entire animal.Haven't had any for 3 years, when the last pigs went.

Tony's ancient freezer find got me thinking. Is it true the Chinese boil Ribs/belly pork etc before they roast it?

Re: Biscuit barrels

That would be my solution too.\they work well.

Then hot foot to the nearest car boot sale/pre loved/junk shop/weird old Auntie, and find something that looks really nice(and not like it was designed in Sweden(and made in Cambodia).

Re: The Microwave Appreciation Society

Brilliant for porridge Nah sorry OJ, I agree with Ina, microwave porridge is all bitty and raw. THE best way to make porridge is bring to the boil the night before and then plonk on the dying wood burner. Next morning reheat and you have the smoothest porridge you ever tasted. If I make 90 (I won't) I'll only accept alcohol for Christmas or birthdays.

Have you seen the Whitby Hand warmer? Excellent bit of kit.

Re: Council "Soil Enhancer"

For the blueberries,I have a special stash of hop waste which a mate got me when he had a temp job at a hop kiln. The ne...
