The Slugs are Winning
Thanks to all for your replies and advice. Well, I used the slug pellets once but my plants still got eaten. :( I don't think I'll be using them again as I am not really happy about using them. I will continue with the beer traps because they have managed to trap quite a few slugs and snails. The tr...

The Slugs are Winning
Thanks for all the advice. I have succumbed to slug pellets - organic ones. They are supposed to be harmless to all other wildlife.

The Slugs are Winning
On Friday I planted out my Scarlet Runner Beans into the garden. I put down oyster shell all over the surrounding ground and set up beer traps. I have faithfully been on slug and snail patrol every few hours. Yesterday I noticed that a couple of leaves had been munched on so last night I crushed up ...

My Hen is not-a-laying

They have access to many of my garden plants and are partial to the heather's and hardy geranium leaves. They tend to ignore the dandelions and nettles! We don't have low flying a...

My hen is not-a-laying
Thanks for the advice Martin. The layers pellets are meant to be organic but I will check out the label for any 'nasties'. I move the run every few days to a new patch of grass to avoid any disease build up on the ground. How shocking that a company can claim that a product is natural when it is syn...

My Hen is not-a-laying
One of my two hens has stopped laying eggs. I got her in April last year at point of lay and she laid an egg almost every day until January this year when she just stopped. I have had about four eggs from her since January minus shells but just a rather unattractive membrane thingy. On April 9th she...

I'm a newbie!
Not sure if my message is going to end up in the right place as I haven't been in a forum before. Anyway just wanted to say that I've been logging onto the site regularly for about three weeks. I've made Andy's Sage and Seed loaf and been inspired to sow hundreds of vegetable seeds. (Well, dozens an...
