17. Go to either of the banks in Bridport, Dorset. In summer the air-con unit keeps them down at about 16C, but in summer the heating keeps them at about 21C. Go figure. Ditto any of the supermarkets in Swindon. T***o don't even have a front door so their air conditioning/heating covers the whole t...

Hi Paddy's Mum
Don't worry - you've convinced me. I won't even think of it again.

I am glad you got out OK. That must have been horrific. Thank you for sharing your experience as a warning to everyone.

Has anybody who signed the petition had their response back from the PM yet? I certainly haven't.

Hi There was debate about this on BBC breakfast this morning. Apparently Tony Blair is going to e-mail each and every person who signed the petition against it and tell us what a good idea it is  I am basically for being charged per mile but we already get this in the fuel tax. Why waste all t...

I've also been thinking about a dehydrator but was put off by the prices. I know that you can dry herbs in the microwave. Has anyone tried drying other foods this way?

Hi Maggie
Have you got them yet? Do let me know how you get on.

I'm getting mine on the 27th from the battery hen people down in Somerset. I've never had chooks before so I am really excited. The hen house is almost complete and much posher than my own home. I hope they appreciate it!

Thanks Muddy
I'll go back to chucking it in my plant pots and keep telling myself that I really ought to top up the loft insulation but can't bear to do it.

Hi Well I quite like the idea but not sure about the camping. I guess if you find a venue to meet in (a large pub would probably do the trick) then we can all make our own arrangements for accommodation. Can the overseas members join us by webcam? Count me in and if anyone from the south west feels ...

Sorry to revive an old thread guys but does anybody know if polystyrene packaging would be OK? I can't bear to throw it in the landfill and there are only so many plant pots you can put it in so could you break it up and put it between the joists? Would it be a fire risk? As for the house dust mites...

A few years ago I had a tickly cough. My father in law mixed a teaspoon of cod liver oil with a tea spoon of whisky and made me drink it neat.

It tasted so revolting that I didn't dare cough again in case he made me drink some more. Certainly cured the cough.

Jelly moulds - yogurt pots are better. I always chose yogurts etc by what the tub will be useful for rather than what is in it.

Asda used to sell pate in little china bowls. They made brilliant cat food bowls.

insulate your greenhouse with it  Good idea except that the "greenhouse" is already completely covered in bubble wrap. It's not really a greenhouse more a lean-to shed with some old church windows on one side so it gets really draughty. The bubble wrap is brilliant though. Perhaps's ...

Ha - yeah. You should have seen the sizes of the two boxes that my order came in. It was only a few bits of cosmetics and stuff from Virgin Vie. The whole lot would have fitted into a large envelope and yet they sent two boxes which filled the boot of my estate car! The only good thing was the boxes...
