All sorts of ways. Lots of people freeze most produce. But we (my wife and I) pickle, dry, salt, brine, clamp, lactic ferment, jam, jelly...oh and some of us import pressure canners :)

I don't speak for anyone else, but, for me, I have learned huge amounts about self sufficiency from my US friends.
