Stromanthe Magic Star
My stromanthe has thin roots coming out of the bottom of the pot and I was wondering if this is the sort of plant that likes to be potbound or not as I'd rather not have to repot if not really necessary.

Tomato plant size
Tomato plantlets, some in pots, some near the edge of a salad table. The potted ones are growing inches high, the ones in the salad table, with more compost in (though not in depth) are a fraction of the height. In case anyone is wondering why they're in a salad table (not normally used for tall pla...

Re: Cherry tree help
I couldn't help but cut off some of the worst of the infested crumpled leaves and put them in the bin that I was going to take out that evening, which I completely forgot about. So, next morning the bin was swarming with these little things, yuck! I think I'll use an insecticide to get rid of the wo...

Re: Brits banned from overseas hotels...
It seems unfair to, what I would imagine, is the majority of British holiday maker. A good idea would be to only allow those with insurance to book with them, that might put off the ne'er-do-wells and provide a bit of security (you never know what can befall you) for those who pay for the insurance ...

Re: Laundry detergents
I've only used own brands as normal ones since I could not see any extra value in the branded ones. However, I only felt like commenting as the last straw was real disappointment in one of the pricier branded liquids. Now, I've always used the powders and not typically conditioners, so I thought I'd...

Laundry detergents
I've heard that there are less phosphatey type things in washing powders so that the makers don't have to put some sort of caustic symbol on their packaging (so it looks better, not offputting to consumers). This is probably why for a long time now washing powders don't seem to work as well as they ...

Re: Buy and sell precious metals?
I'd rather find a buyer for my silver coins... thanks for the link though, but I don't drive so I won't be able to go driving around the country on a treasure hunt, even thought I like the idea of it.

Meat for mincing
As it's been in a cupboard for a few years now, I thought I might try mincing some meat with my cast iron clamping mincer. I'd be making beef burgers, so is there a particular type of cut to use - my thinking is that as it's being minced, even tough cuts could be used.

Foreign language
Is there a term for when someone tries to be clever and pretends they don't understand the language someone is speaking in order to try and avoid having to do something or hope they assume or say something else that they prefer, or give up?

Buy and sell precious metals?
I came across a website that showed a graph going up and down according to gold and silver prices - is it possible to be involved in this type of trading from home?
