How can I make a cat ramp?
My cat is getting on and doesn't spring up the stairs as he used to, and may also be hypertensive (awaiting test results). I want to help him by putting a plank up along the side of the stairs (a bit like those for bicycles in railway stations), which is the bit I could probably manage. What I also ...
Re: Chickens
I've been dusting with the diatomaceous earth powder, hopefully will keep problems at bay.
Re: Chickens
Talking of pests, and this didn't happen when I had chickens a few years ago, when these chickens pooed, within ten minutes loads of flies came out of nowhere to work on the droppings in the garden (not in the shed, thankfully). I got four of them on Friday and today is the first day I let them free...
Re: Chickens
And they drop them wherever they are, is there anything I can do to make them toilet in a specific area?
Chickens
Is there a particular reason why chickens poo so much? It seems disproportionate compared to other small animals.
Re: Free Ewes
Hi, did you find a home for them? An agricultural college might take some the next time you want to reduce your flock.

Crocosmia makes sense - I don't think it will come to much this year though.

Re: Mysterious bulb plant
The stacking effect of the bulbs is odd to me, i know they aren't dahlias as their bulbs are long. The blades are coming from the bulbs in the picture, they're not bits of grass. The clump of bulbs is about 16cm wide.

Re: Cherry tree help
This is a cherry tree in a little raised bed made with some bricks. I've added some fresh compost and used a few bricks around the tree trunk to protect it from the added layer. Is it necessary? If I remove the protective ring of bricks and add a couple or few inches of compost, will the trunk rot o...

Re: Bamboo advice please!
I'm trying to get rid of a clump. I cut it down but now the bits of cane that are left are rock solid. Can I water with something like salt water and have it die or will I have to dig it out?
