Re: Breakfast
Molasses is a syrup made of boiled cane juice. Depending on the processing and where the cane was grown is can be very mild or quite strongly flavored. It's wonderful in Gingersnap cookies, and fabulous mixed with butter and spread on fresh hot biscuits (the Southern kind of biscuits---don't know ho...

Re: Pressure Cooker
I know on another thread someone (I think it was British Red) said pressure cookers aren't sold in the U.K.? But I'm curious why is that?

Re: What are we all having for dinner?
Tonight myself and DD are having soup made from Sticky Chicken carcass and leftover rolls. Then stirring up a batch of strawberry lemonaid because her class is visiting our farm tomorrow.

Maraschino Cherry Juice,..er,..um,...syrup?
Does anyone have a way to use up that vile sticky red stuff left in the jar after I've made MustardseedPapa a pineapple-upside-down cake? There's only about half a cup of it, and it's sitting in my fridge daring me to find a way to use it. Cocktails are not an option, as we don't drink. It seems a s...

Re: This is what I love...
I know this is an older post, but I so much know how this feels. I've had lots of these "moments" in the last eight years, but the best one was when I found out my Dad and Stepmother were coming to visit, and I cooked an entire meal, including dessert, from things grown on our place; roast...

Re: Ummm,...Hello?
I don't speak for anyone else, but, for me, I have learned huge amounts about self sufficiency from my US friends. They have access to many things we lack (pressure canners and good supplies of heirloom wheat for a kick off). On the other hand our access to certain old tools and techniques is much ...

Re: Ummm,...Hello?
Thanks very much!! I can see that I'm going to learn a lot here.
We're in Missouri. We have a small farm; chickens, cats, very large dog, rabbits, veggies, fruit, and occasional hogs. We love the country, and we do as much for ourselves as we can. I am happiest when I am learning something new!

Ummm,...Hello?
From what I have seen this site is right up my alley,...but I have been lead by the media over here to believe that Americans have a really bad reputation throughout the rest of the world. So my question is; Are Yanks allowed on here?
