Stew, that's great - I totally agree. A lot of cars look a bit like miniature tanks nowadays, it's even worse if the drivers sit so high you can hardly see them (and must suspect they can't see you, either) - and blacked-out windows should be a thing of the past, with all those anti-terror measures ...

Is it just me or is it a general go-slow again? Can't seem to get into some topics at all... Well, I do tend to give up after 10 minutes of waiting or so.

I suspected that. Don't know how long you've been away, but I don't remember it from my time in London, either; that was about 25 years ago. Makes it sound so healthy, doesn't it - do you want a can of juice?

Hi Charlie Welcome to the site and thanks for reminding me that I need to get some GARLIC..... Very important! Unfortunately weatherforecast is absolutely miserable for the weekend. Brilliant sunshine for Monday, though. Tough on those of us who have a "normal" job for a living. ...

What - there are actually people who pay for that experience?

Not me, mate... I can get my thrills cheaper. Mind you, I've never been in a sidecar, so I shouldn't talk. Maybe I'd love it.

And warm beer in ice cold glasses? :pukeleft:

1970s - I saw that misprint, too. And since there are quite a few people on the road with alcohol problems in Scotland - well, not just on the road - they might well think it's time to reduce their intake... Might have a beneficial impact on Scottish health!

Thanks Nev, how did you know it was you I meant when I was asking for the chemist... ? I suppose that's the same gas that makes tomatoes go red when you put banana skins in amongst them? Reminds me, my brother once said he always got a headache when he was doing a lot of apple juicing, and he ...

Hi Jen Welcome to the site - no need to be shy, we all started off like you... It's a bit late in the year for planting anything except fruit bushes, trees etc. So black plastic is not a bad idea, but I would leave the composting until the spring. Despite the plastic, some nutrients would leach out ...

Aliens in Scotland!!!

No, this is not about little green men... I'm just looking through a review of alien species in Scotland (work related... plants and animals!), and I've come across a most astonishing fact. Aussies and Kiwis look here! Did you know we didn't have to visit you any more to see a wallaby? (Oh...

It says so on their wrappers, in small print, of course - made in Italy. Well, maybe it's just some of their production; I'll keep my eyes open.

Re: Portugese English

I am afraid I do not speak portugese, I tried to translate what you said in google and it came up with "Ola as this? this well! So great which and of its tomatoes? it ties soon! " - which does not really make much sense. On occasions when I feel I really need some cheering up I do some go...

I think you can tell by the subtlty of the wording: If it says 'Bacon Flavoured', then it has to be flavoured with bacon - the real stuff. If it says 'Bacon Flavour' then it just has to be a flavour that vaguely reminds you of something that might once have been a bit like bacon. That's similar to ...
