Re: Buying adjoining land - Legal costs ?

Sarah, don't dispair yet.... A good friend of mine was gifted a small piece of adjoining garden (about 10m by 10m). No solicitor was required, she downloaded the relevant title alteration forms from the Register, filled them in, accompanied with an OS base plan (the most costly part at £50ish) and s...

Re: Should I get a freezer?

Good point Tony. Shopping is a very mild detour on the way home from work but even then I tend to go once a week. I would very much like to cycle there on a Saturday but the straw hoose is still demanding lots of my time. I will get back to it later this year I hope. Once I get a veg garden establis...

Should I get a freezer?

Right, here's my dilemma! I have worked very hard to get my leccy consumption in the straw hoose down as low as possible. Last month's average was 1.6kWh/day. As the days lengthen, this will come down slightly more. The only permanently running item is my fridge which is new and an A+ model. I have ...

Re: Straw bale - dangerously close!

Thanks chaps and chapesses! Very pleased but there's going to be a long list of jobs. I have just added to the list by buying 16 window blinds on the way home from work tonight. I have carefully laid them out at the correct window in the hope that the Blind Fairy will come tomorrow whilst im working...

Moved in just before Christmas (into an unfinished house but the frost on the inside of the caravan gort the better of me!) Straw Bale volunteers

The house is almost ready for bales! We are having a bale building day on 28th May. Location - near Melrose in the Borders. The plan is to have 4 bale teams, one on each corner, led by an experienced baler. Camping available if required. 20 min walk to the pub on Saturday night. If anyone i...

Re: Unlimited mobile internet?

I managed to convince BT to put a phone line into the caravan. They run a line on the ground for about 100m from the nearest pole. It's temporary for this year.

Re: What festival are you going to this year?

Theres some grumblings about this years Cropredy line up on some forums. If the weather is good I will be very happy! I think a 3 day ticket is £90. Pretty good value imo. An I am a tight Jockaneese type person.

Re: Finished wine too sweet

Hehe Mike - I never got it tried. I might not get it tried tonight either as I have some trees to cut down tomorrow so better not do it with a hangover!

I will let you know the outcome though.
