Re: Allotment vineyard..

Me too! I've got Pino Noir and Polo Muscat. I'm not doing mine in raised beds though. I've got 6 good sized bunches on the Polo Muscat at home. Happy days!

Re: Fungus threatening my mushrooms cultivation

It looks to me like a variety of slime mould fruiting bodies (stemonitis) they usually only set spores when all the nutrients have been extracted from the substrate (and they can feed on the mycelium of mushrooms). I would hazard a guess and say that it has killed off your mushroom mycelium and usur...

Does your finger have a "focal point" where the bite may have been?

A differential diagnosis could be gout, This can manifest in any joint causing the symptoms you describe.

Re: Stonehead's ale goes on and on and on and...

If you Camden it, it will kill everything in it and it won't be fizzy. It's tricky to obtain the right amount of fizz. Generally when your brew has stopped frothing and it takes on an almost oily look to the surface, it's time to bottle. (This assumes that the yeast you have used hasn't been killed ...

Re: Taking bay cuttings

Take 4-5 inch cuttings from semi ripe wood. Strip all but the top 2 leaves. Scrape the bottom 1/2 inch to reveal the cambium, dip in rooting hormone and place in equal parts peat and sand. Water thoroughly and allow to drain. Place the pot and cutting in a polythene bag and seal. Stand it on a light...

Hi Hannah and welcome to the forum! As Mike has said, It sounds like you have used kilo's instead of lbs. As it's probably not a closed fermentation at this stage, I would be tempted to add more nettles, lemon and water, otherwise you're going to end up with a beer that is strong and sweet wi...

Re: Slugs slugs slugs !!!!

I've found that scarifying my lawn once a year has made a dramatic reduction in slug and snail numbers, I guess it disrupts the egg cycle in grass thatch and opens the grass to bird predators. I can honestly count on two hands the number of snails/slugs removed from the flower beds this year. @*%&qu...

Re: ... get rid of mare's tail?

Is this the article? : To avoid damping off disease, sprinkle a thin eighth-inch layer of coarse sand over the compost when seedlings first emerge. This helps with drainage and lowers top humidity. An infusion or tea made from marestail, nettle and/or chamomile can also be sprayed as an anti-fungal ...

Re: How do i make my own energy drink?

Most energy drinks are Isotonic, (in laymans terms they are the same tension as blood) for example water is hypotonic (Thinner), Treacle is hypertonic (Thicker). I'm sure MKG can give a specific answer in respect of the chemistry. Fluids are absorbed better if they are Isotonic because it's easier f...

Here's one I use: http://pickyourown.org/horseradishsauce.htm but I find that the jars don't last much more than a couple of months as it says on the bottom of the recipe.
