Re: What has happened to this website?

It can be a bit demoralising when you post something and a day later no one has replied. This is something we need to do ourselves if we want to save this fantastic website. I am going to try to post at least one new thread a day and reply to as many as i can. If we all do this we can encourage othe...

What has happened to this website?

This used to be a very active forum that had countless posts a day and loads of regular contributors but at the moment it is almost dead and you are lucky if there is one post a day. What happened to the Hamilton brothers. Do they still have anything to do with the site? What can we do bring this fo...

Re: Planning for being self sufficientish in 2015

I would like to start adding more perennials to the allotment so there is less work to do and i would like to learn a lot more about foraging and hunting/fishing. Once the dome is finished (hopefully this weekend) I will start planning my aquaponics system to provide year round veg and fish. The dom...

You are welcome. Keep up the good work you are doing. I may come up on a bow making course in the future.

Re: Slow Geodesic Dome build

Had a bit of a nightmare getting the base perfectly round yesterday in the rain. It is a 15 sided circle and the know the measurement from the centre to each of the 15 points needs to be 2250mm but try as we might we could not get all points to this figure and ended up chasing a bulge around thee ba...

Re: How We Approached Dealing With The Planning Authority

Thank you very much. That was a very interesting read and made a lot of sense. I will share this article to other suitable forums if that is OK.

We are looking to settle on our own piece of land but it will probably be abroad as we cannot afford the land prices in Cornwall

Re: For saving money around the house!

I am constantly running around at work and this can play havoc with my coffee habit. Every time I pass the kettle I turn it on in the vain hope that I will get around to making a coffee. I can turn the kettle on several times and never make a coffee. Then then i do make a coffee I never get around t...

Re: Slow Geodesic Dome build

All the triangles have been sanded to accept the plastic and I have started covering the panels in plastic. I am going to knock it on the head because it is difficult on my own so I will need Jules to give me a hand with covering the panels. http://i1304.photobucket.com/albums/s523/TinyAllotment/201...

DIY Greenhouse Heat Recovery System

As my dome seems to actually becoming reality I am looking for a way to regulate the temperature both day and night. I am going to have some vents as a back up just in case the dome overheats but this would be a worst-case scenario. I do not want to loose the heat generated during the day. I would r...

Re: Slow Geodesic Dome build

In the last two hours I turned these http://i1304.photobucket.com/albums/s523/TinyAllotment/2015-07-08%2012.13.59_zpsfxw1yeub.jpg into these. http://i1304.photobucket.com/albums/s523/TinyAllotment/2015-07-09%2017.49.07_zpsjoxrirkh.jpg?t=1436374492 38 triangles. So that is all the triangles including...

Oh I like goose

I would like to learn how to process game a little more efficiently. I have a very good video on my blog links page on how to do rabbits properly with a really nice recipe.

Re: Slow Geodesic Dome build

Not jealous at all! Events this year have taken a weird turn, the upshot of which is that the wood we bought for the dome is now going to be used to dry-line part of the house, for my daughter to use. The dome will have to wait until next year now. Still the area we'd earmarked for it (wh...

Re: Slow Geodesic Dome build

We are having a community BBQ at the allotment on the 25th so I am hoping to get it finished by then.

I have some home brew on the go and I will set the barrel up in the dome and label it Dome Brew.

Proceeds to go to the allotment association funds
