Re: The Last Rose ?

Isn't that great! Until a few weeks ago I still had lots of things flowering in the garden as we hadn't had below zero. There's still a cranesbill geranium putting out the odd flower now - but wierder than that is the late winter/early spring flowers which have been flowering for months - a hellebo...

Re: Don't buy anything new in 2009!

No, sorry ... I am just the opposite. I normally don't buy new things, that's become a way of life for me over the years, but I plan to have a good old splurge in the new year. With the Euro now nearly equal to one pound Sterling, up from being only worth about 78p, and all the massive reductions/cl...

Re: DIY Sausage machine

I used to use a manual sausage filling machine rather like a caulking gun or silicone sealant gun which worked very well for years, but my hands can't put up with the pressure any more. I tried using the mincer (Kenwood Chef) but found it too difficult ... needed at least two pairs of hands, if not ...

Thanks for that Sally, I don't think I will go out of my way to get one just yet.

Re: What is the most unusual present you are giving this year?

A pressure cooker and a gas saver (thingy you put on the gas ring to make it more efficient. These are for daughter who is taking over the utility bills in the new year. Sorry to be a bit off topic but have you used one of these gas savers GA ? I have looked at adverts for these in the past and cou...

Re: My view on "Green"

Some good and relevant points were made in the past posts, but... Rivers, which now harbour fish again, were absolutely foul 40 years ago. There was sulfur in petrol causing acid rain, there was lead in petrol; very healty as well. And though there were less cars, each car in itsself was much more ...

Re: Rabbits in cages or can it be another way?

As others have said, you should keep the buck separate (until needed).
But one thing I can add to that is don't cage the buck so that he can see the does, as they tend to literally spray urine everywhere :pukeright:
It's a male thing I suppose

Re: Two wheeled tractors

I have an old Howard 350 rotavator which can also take other tools including a plough and a ridger for earthing up potatoes, you can also fit a trailer (tipper or flat bed) although I don't have one. The trailer has a seat at the front and you steer by pushing the rotavator handle left or right. Acc...

Re: new greenhouse help

One suggestion that you might find helpful later on ... take several photographs of the greenhouse before you dismantle it. It can be a Godsend when you try to figure out where this funny short length of aluminium goes  EDIT .. sorry just read the above post ... you had already thought of t...

I found this... Quote: Jewish penicillin: Chicken soup. If not really a form of penicillin," chicken soup may, in fact, have some therapeutic merit. A study published in the journal Chest demonstrated that chicken soup may contain substances with beneficial activity including an anti-inflammat...

Re: Am I working?

I know what you mean and I'm at the other end of the scale. I'm officially "retired" which to most people means I'm probably dozing in an armchair by the fire with a cup of tea beside me and a newspaper on my lap. Chance would be a fine thing  I probably "work" the same ...
