Re: Nepal travel buddy wanted.

Well, if you can find someone to work for me and pay all my expenses, I'll come   Hmmm, wonder if you've heard that line already today. Have a great time. I'm looking at two more years before I will (hopefully) be in a financial position to take off travelling. I want ...

Re: Kilner flip top jars for chutney??

I think wax discs are only really for using if you're making jam and putting plastic/cellophane cover on the jar rather than a proper lid. Aren't they?

Re: rant sorry :-(

Oh, it sounds like you're having a really tough time. Sounds like life is being just a bit unfair at the moment. What a pity that you can't get any support from your family. Do you have any other friends around that could give you a hand for an hour or two or maybe your LO has a friend whose mum or ...

Re: Help tick head stuck in my leg!

I think you might need to go to the doctor at this stage. I know my sister has a tick-remover-thingy but on occasion she has still had to bring one or other of her kids to the doctor for this.

Re: Full moon sugar frenzy!

And a book coming out in a year or two I think. I think I'll ask if she will take pity on those of us in Europe who don't have digital scales and include proper conversions into metric. I really should just buy a proper set of cup measures because it get annoying trying to get 130g of something sinc...

Re: Full moon sugar frenzy!

Me too! Have been perusing it since I posted that link. I saw that jam tart linked to from another blog and then on Friday needed to find a recipe for banana bread to use up some bananas before they completely disintegrated and thought I'd give smittenkitchen a quick search. Suffice it to say that I...

Re: Full moon sugar frenzy!

Don't even mention jam crowsashes, I ate a TABLESPOON right out of the jar to 'check it' ???!!! before putting in the tarts. My knees are going wobbly just thinking about it! Fantastic! Now I feel more normal - how is it that if you're making a tart that has jam in it, it's always a really BIG spoo...

Re: How do I grow gourds and loofa?

As usual I have no personal experience to offer but do have a couple of links bookmarked for that someday when I live in a climate that I could grow them in in which I will have a garden big enough to grow everything I want do. http://www.groovygreen.com/groove/?p=689 http://down---to---earth.blogsp...

I agree with Susie. It's called biodiversity and allowing a naturally beneficial eco-system to develop. Or something.

Re: hello from Slovenia!

Lucky you. I did a charity walk in Slovenia a few years ago. It's a beautiful country. I will never forget just being able to fill up our water bottles at any nearby river - fantastically clear, clean water.

Re: Castile soap query

Actually a bar would probably be easier to carry around - much smaller and lighter than a bottle of liquid. All you need is a little box to carry it in, I use tupperware since I have so much of it from my days as a demonstrator but even a glass jar would work (although that would add to the weight o...

Re: Free Range Eggs

I remember also being shocked when I found that out. It's all a case of good marketing and bad labelling really. Free to range does not necessarily mean actually free ranging. Have a look at all the different options next time you're in a supermarket. There are very few if any that aren't very ambig...

Hi there, I'm fairly new so don't know you or your background very well. Just a thought on counselling though, if your counsellor doesn't suit you, consider trying to find a different one before you decide to give up on it or take a break. I always thought myself to have been incredibly lucky to hav...

Presumably you're talking about washing soda (Na2C03) and not bicarbonate of soda (NaHC03)? Can washing soda be used on pots and pans?

Re: "We love what you're doing here"

I am also 36, won't use chemical hairdyes and can't be bothered with henna because it takes too long, so have let my hair start to go grey. I think I'm the only woman in my office who doesn't dye - that is definitely odd! Had a big discussion about this with a friend recently and we just had to agr...
