Re: Are charity shops getting expensive

i have 6 charity shops near me, 4 of which are all on the same road. i have found that some shops are better than others for things, for example, scope charges between £1.50-£5 for books yet opposite it, florence nightingale charges 25p - £3 (average paperback is 75p) i don't even go into the oxfam ...

Re: Christmas Fair - what a joke

i get that about the weather at the one in the woods... it's a 10-15 minute drive and you only go there for the woods it's not on the way anywhere, but the first one was in a sports centre and had been advertised in the local council magazine and on the local radio.

Re: Christmas Fair - what a joke

i'm on the school pta and i'm trying to get the other 5 ladies to agree to a craft fair.

i just thought that for all the effort someone's put in organising the event and advertising it that it would of been more.

Christmas Fair - what a joke

feeling quite disapointed. Convinced my husband that it would be a good idea for us to go to a Christmas gift Fair on sunday, thinking that it might be a good place to find presents that are home made and have a few hours out with the kids. it was half a sports hall, with 10 small tables, half of wh...

Re: Ish 'doing' gifts to loved ones

so far i've made a couple of scarfs. i've made elderberry and apple jam, blackberry jam, apple chutney and spicy apple chutney. i've also made some vanilla brown sugar body scrub.

don't think i'm doing too badly for my first christmas making things... have made about 35 jars in total.

Re: drying clothes and nappies?

i have/had similar issue. i would suggest putting clothes through an extra spin after the wash has finished. what about putting clothes airer over the bath. you can get radiator airers for a couple of pounds at places like wilkinsons. in the past i've been known to put clothes over the bannister on ...

Re: Going for a no Spend Christmas

nice one.. i'm also trying to minimise the ammount of money i spend this christmas, hence the home made jam & chutneys that i'm gonna make with my son.. the only problem i'm having at the moment is getting enough jars! lol

Re: Anyone else jam making at the moment?

i haven't made jam before, but i have been picking the blackberries with my son and freezing them to make jam later in the year.
i will also be making chutney too. my intension is to make jam, chutney and flavoured oils for christmas presents for the adults in the family.
