Re: Emptying the supermarket shelves

Crazy isn't it - we buy loo roll in bulk by mail order so have been very well stocked for a while, but the local Morrisons was looking like a war zone last week. Unfortunately, as a home worker, I don't actually get time off work by being home! Ah well, at least there's the allotment out the back :)...

No group hugs for sure!

Mrs. Viper works for a University and has seemingly brought it home.

Re: Emptying the supermarket shelves

I'm in self-quarantine as of today!

Don't feel too bad - definitely up to some digging and hoeing.

We're lucky to live in a world where most of that list has been eradicated by a couple of vaccines :)

Re: Emptying the supermarket shelves

Madness isn't it - M and I thought it was a joke until we went to (a particular Northern supermarket) last night and there was barely a toilet roll in the place. We order our rolls 50 at a time from a company called "Who Gives a Crap" so we're well sorted, but it was still something of a surprise! I...

However, I have not yet found a purpose or role for the highly invasive little naked ape that now dominates the earth.
That's because there isn't one - but here we are, I guess.

Re: Self sufficientish 2020

Well, it's a glorious morning here and it's reminding me why we live here. After my last post, during the 2 hour trip down the road we did some serious talking and have come up with a short term plan. It won't resolve most of our issues and, longer term, we're still moving but it will...

Re: Karen and Pete's allotment

The Parish Council around here have just started recommissioning loads of dilapidated allotments and offering them up at £15PA for a half plot or £30 for a full plot. I'm considering moving some of the lower-attention stuff down there and freeing up a bit more space out back for veggies :)

Good luck!

I'm still working on finding a greenhouse. Don't really want to pay much for one though.

Cold Frame from Junk

Got a pallet crate from work, a load of pallet wood and a scrap piece of carbonate that I found blowing around somewhere. The hinges are nicked from a gate, but I would have preferred to use some reclaimed ones. As an absolute minimum, you could make this with a claw hammer, a saw and some nails. I'...

Re: Rusty tools

The only outbuilding I have is really damp and dilapidated - it's a constant uphill struggle to keep stuff from rusting. Hence the need to build a proper outhouse.
