Re: Ferry and train vs flying

A hard decision. I hope I can be as strong when I need to be. :hugish:
Have a great Dutch holiday!

Re: piece quilting

I like this idea of using an old duvet.
Yes!
Must admit I usually turn the old one into a dog bed if I get a new duvet. This idea better!

Re: Asparagus

Oh thanks! Useful gen!
On reflection, I think I`ll start a new bed next spring and go on with the old one for the time being.
AND I`ll be more careful to get the dandelions out before they turn into deep-fanged monsters!

Re: Ferry and train vs flying

I`m impressed too. My OH and I stopped flying a few years ago for environmental reasons. I have a sister and family in Florida and it`s been hard to resist their invitations to family occasions. We`ve managed it, though. However, my stepson is going to live in Nova Scotia later this year. It`s going...

Asparagus

Is it possible to move mature asparagus? If so, when? My asparagus bed is about eight years old and, though most of the plants crop well, there are gaps where plants have disappeared, (died?). Also, I`m afraid, some deep perennial weeds. (I know I shouldn`t allow them. I do try! ) I thought t...

Re: piece quilting

This thread has inspired me! This is the year I finish the quilt! I started it five years ago. It`s nine patch squares of random cotton, just stitched together, quilt-as-you-go. nothing clever. All the squares are pieced and quilted and most of them stitched into rows. It`s stored in big bags behind...

Re: Twitchy eye.

Well - it`s eight in the morning - I`ve had a good night`s sleep - and my eye is twitching relentlessly! :? I`ve not long had new 'computer specs'. When I got my new computer I decided that I`d no longer struggle peering through the lower half of my bifocals. I`d get some specs that focus at the rig...

Re: Hi From Rainy Manchester

Welcome Dave.
There are lots of good foraging tips on here - as well as lots of clever and friendly posters.
Actually, the weather doesn`t look too good for the weekend.
Cool and showery.
Mac and wellies might be needed.
Let us know how you get on.

Re: frogspawn in my pond

Oh no! Are you sure?
I can`t imagine a magpie standing pondside and fishing frogspawn out.
The devils!
We`ve got spawn in our garden pond and maggies nesting nearby but they`ve not been near the pond.
(Actually, it`s started to hatch into taddies.)

Re: Hi from Sunny Hampshire :)

If you steep couch grass in water until it`s soggy and stinky it makes a good feed when strained.

Oh, never thought of that. Thanks Clara.
It`s really annoying. Never had it before but it`s been bugging me for about a month now. :?

Re: Hi from Sunny Hampshire :)

Morning! And welcome to Ishers.
I`m sure that you`ll have some great chats here. People are so helpful and friendly (and funny).
I hope that the weekend will be sunny, too.
Perhaps with some rain at night, though.
My allotment is most fiendish dry.............................

Twitchy eye.

I`ve got a twitchy eye.
The eyelid on my left eye keeps jumping and twitching.
I`ve looked in the mirror when it`s doing it but it doesn`t seem to show so it doesn`t look as though I`m winking at people thank goodness.
Very irritating, though.
It`s doing it now.
Woddya fink?
