I can't find the instructions, but I believe the reasoning behind it was to prevent the yolk from sticking to the s...

Just been given a billy

A chap knocked on the door today and gave us a 4 year old purebred British Alpine billy. He's a friend of a friend and had raised the billy from a kid as a pet, but he keeps donkeys and they weren't geting along. The mutual friend suggested us to take it as he knew we have 2 female goats. At first w...

Re: First life of 2012 - What are you sowing?

Have got overwintering onions, spring cabbage and broad beans in since late last year. Have got another packet of broad bean seeds in my jacket pocket with the intention of planting them at some point soon. Will be putting garlic in soon too. Last year's kale is sprouting nicely, had to stop hubby p...

Re: How Rude!

A similar thing happend to a friend recently, all i could say to my friend was why did she find it so upsetting? Was she relying on the employer's reaction to give her some sort of self worth?

Travel sickness remedies for my dog

Has anyone got any ideas of how to prevent travel sickness in dogs? We have a 9 month old border collie bitch, she has always been travel sick, since the day she picked her up from the breeder. We took her to the beach today, which is only a 20 minute drive and the poor little pup was so ill. Its lo...

Re: soap nuts or eco balls

I use soda crystals, mixed with homemade liquid castile soap with some borax substitute thrown in for good measure. I have a ook called 'Self Sufficiency Household Cleaning' which has all sorts of recipes and info in, it put me off shop bought cleaning products for life!!

Re: menstrual cup

I've been using one for well over a year now, never found them to hurt or be uncomfortable, i always take it with me when i'm going away for a weekend or the like so i never get caught out and i love the fact it cost £14 and has more than paid for itself.

Hi Karen, I'm very interested to hear more about goat's milk soaps. A neighbour mentioned them to me last week, she knows someone who makes them. I'd be interested to hear all about how you make them......
