raised beds?

In my previous post I mentioned I don't think I'm using my space efficiently. Could someone explain raised beds to me? Where would I put them? I've got 4 vegetable beds of a good size and 2 smaller ones. This is all surrounded by hedges and trees etc so no room for a raised bed in the borders. This ...

Use of space

I'm not sure I am fully utilising the space I have. Every seed packet or website suggests a minimum space for each vegeatable. I haven't left enough room for my cabbage plants and was wondering if I could plant them in between the broad bean rows. Does anyone have any guidance on use of space and wh...

Re: Home Remedies for PMT and Pains please!

[quote=" diet richs in omega 3 oils, cut out carbohydrates all together to regulate your blood sugars, quote] I agree completley with this and also absolutely no alcohol in the week before you are expecting the PMT or during your period. Borrage is good and I find it helps with the PMS. Much better ...

Hello and welcome. This a great site and I'm sure you will find it a great help.

Good luck with the garden. Mine is 100 feet long and was in a terrible condition, but not now!

Re: Bought a mooncup!

Three days and I can't get over how much better an experience this has been than with other methods. No leaking, no sticky mess etc.
I won't go back to previous products and every woman I know will be getting one for birthday/Christmas.
Why doesn't every woman know about this product?

Re: Open fireplace

Thanks everyone for your advice. We have decided to buy a multi-fuel burner. Surprised by how cheap they are.

Open fireplace

We have four fireplaces in our house. One in the kitchen, one in a front room we don't use and one each in two of the bedrooms. They haven't been used for years. How would I go about getting them back in use and what fuel would be best if I am able to use them? I would like to never use the GSH agai...

Re: Bought a mooncup!!

Used my mooncup for the first time today. I can't believe how comfortable it is. I can't even feel it.
It took a couple of goes to get it in the right place but after that, easy.

Re: what did you do in the vegpatch/allotment

I planted out garden peas, moved the herbs which were growing indoors into the cloche, hung two hanging baskets for coriander, put the sunflowers into pots in the garden and unfortunatley broke three that were 8 inches tall when I dropped the pot :banghead:, planted buzzie lizzies, petunias, marigol...

It's raining

I just thought I'd share my joy. As I type this the rain is pouring down and I couldn't be happier.

slightly green chitted potatoes

I left my tubers (Maris Piper) in a light spot but not in direct sunlight. When they had chitted I noticed some of them had a very pale tinge of green on the skin. I planted them anyway but am now informed my whole crop will be poisonous.

Would be grateful for any thoughts.
