Ours is on most of the time, I love it, it cooks our food for free, heats the house, drys the washing (overhead rack) boils water.... best thing we ever did.

Have tried to open it from the front page and the control panal.

Planted today;

Parsnip - Cobham Improved Marrow
Carrot - Earlies; Nantes 2
Red Onion - Red Baron (in a circle around the above two.

All in containers. Carrots in the coldframe and parsnips covered by wriggly plastic.

I plant by thinking about the size the veg is going to be (hope to be!) at harvest time and then allowing a little soil around it.

This works for most things but not Spuds.

We have underfloor electric heating in our kitchen! It is excellent and very ecconomical. We currently only have electric to heat the house and our electricity consumption is really quite low. I'm getting ready to sow carrots, parsnips and red onions. Interesting about the germinating parsnip seeds. I think I'll try both! :geek:

I only have room for either carrots or parsnips in the cold frame - which one do you think I should go for?

Today I got on with sowing some more different toms and some herbs; basil and coriander.

There is no no more room on the window sill. Hubbies face should be a picture when he gets home tomorrow! :pale:
