Re: Moving to France?

Are you looking at buying through an agency? They will be able to inform you of any protocol. I found this good article in the Times : http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/money/reader_guides/article4007950.ece which might be helpful. You will also need to announce your arrival with your local authority...

Re: How do you cope with ignorant people?

I point out to them (and remind myself) that somebody has to save the world - why on Earth shouldn't that someone be me? That's also the technique I use on kids who don't understand why they shouldn't waste things ("you don't want to be the hero that saves the world?"). But then I'm one of...

Re: Moving to France?

Are you all of British nationality? For people, it is fairly simple - especially if none of you are drawing a state pension. You can probably google up all the necessary advice pretty sharpish. Are you going to buy or rent? You will need to look up the paperwork to open a French bank account, that i...

Sorry Gert! :(

Agree with Fee Fairy - even if there's just a small chance it will make their life difficult when they try to sell them, it's worth it

Re: hubby awkward with meals help please

Have you tried rice, quinoa, couscous, tapioca and things like that? They can replace potatoes in a meal, and don't have too strong a flavour. Don't take the comments too personally Mary, everyone is just trying to help in their own way, and it can be hard to interpret things written on a board like...

Re: hubby awkward with meals help please

I would like to add a sensitive point here... Firstly, we are only assuming that Mary and her OH's health issues are food-related here. The lady has recognised that they have an unhealthy diet and has asked for our advice :thumbleft: Let's not get too judgemental. However I do partly agree that you ...

Re: immune boosters?

I always depend on echinacea myself when I know I'm about to be prone to getting poorly. It can be found in most big pharmacies, and there will be instructions on the pack. It's normally something you take for a couple of weeks as a booster, then stop so it doesn't lose its efficacity, but I would i...

Not entirely sure I've uploaded this right, and I'm no photographer, but this is where I'm living for now =o)

This is the Seine, we're in a house right next to it, and in this direction it flows towards Paris.

Re: homes forums???

And thanks Brij, you have me wondering about all those wooden tubs??? They are more like little trays and pen pots. One of the local supermarkets sells them for a few euros, so I got a whole bunch and a few tubes of acrylic, and I'm painting them up and sticking glitter and stuff all over them :che...

A little over 2 months... That's only a sixth of what you've already done.

Go go go!
