Re: 101 non-swear words

So glad I came back across this thread! I'm living in France at the moment, au pairing for kids that don't really speak English. Still I feel awkward using real swear words in front of them, so I'm taking notes!

Re: Allergies

Just a quickie (I'm on a crashing-other-people's threads spree today!) - how do you make nettle tea? Can you dry the nettles out?

Only we have some fairly good quality nettles atm, but I'm guessing that won't be the case in a month's time... So what would you guys suggest?

Oh, sorry my lovely! I didn't realise I was crashing such a private subject.

For what it's worth, I do hope it all gets sorted out soon :hugish:

Good luck!

Re: Quick-fix for sunburn

I remember once when we were out somewhere and my daughter (now teenager, but she was little back then) got burnt. We didn't have any after sun lotion with us and we couldn't afford to buy any, so I bought a tomato, cut it in half, scooped out the pips and rubbed the inside of the tomato skin on he...

Will be great with the waterproof fabric, you can sit and swing away in a big warm jumper when the autumn showers come!

Re: Horsechestnut (probably) leaf miner moth (maybe)

Thank you George! It's amazing that the tree isn't severely damaged - I would imagine that its photosynthesising capability has been reduced by at least 50%! We'll compost the leaves as soon as they fall to try to reduce the impact for next year. But one last question... Does this mean that when the...

Wow! It sounds like it will work, so why not? Sometimes you just have to take a big step like that.

Good luck!

Horsechestnut (probably) leaf miner moth (maybe)

Well, we have 3 poorly trees in the house we just moved into. We pulled the ivy that was climbing up by the roots, but on closer inspection, it doesn't seem to have been enough to cause the substantial damage to the leaves of the tree. So after a bit of online research, I'm fairly confident the tree...

Re: Rowan - the raw facts

Well ... getting rid of the tree was closely followed by a bout of swine flu ... Maybe there's something in this fairy business. Are they any relation to the kitchen elves who take stuff from the worktops when you're looking for it and then put it back as soon as you look in the fridge? Mike I woul...

Re: Autumn!

I love all the seasons and think each has it's own merits. In Spring it's fantastic to see everything bursting into life in that weird green colour that doesn't quite look real, getting into the greenhouse to sow seeds, and feeling a bit of heat from the sun for the first time in months. Summer, of...
