Re: Newbie wine making instructions
Too acid? Try adding a few Tblspn of (boiled to sterilize) grit that that you would give to chickens - neutralizes some acid with little impact on taste.

Re: Home made cleaning products
I used to make my own washing powder but T*sc* seem to have stopped selling soap flakes and grating bars of soap isn't much fun , so that's on hold for a while. Having said that I don't think it'll be long before the grater comes out - I can't find a washing powder with a smell that like. Food proc...

Re: Where are???
Haven't been around for a while, sorry gang! I'll try to stop by a bit more often now, gotta get back into the garden soon too. Have had flu like i haven't had in 10 years, and it has been flipping cold so i have been lacking some motivation to do anything other than brew and distill recently.

Re: Last years pickling vinegar.
The only thing (to my knowledge) that can go wrong with vinegar is that it will break down to (essential) water over time if exposed to the air and the right micro-organisms.

Re: Is aluminium casting a country skill
Iron/steel is not so great to melt aluminum in - it has a negative effect (but not catastrophic) on the quality of the casting.
You might want to look into lost wax casting and 'greensand' casting.

It really does benefit from 6-12 months aging once it is done though; helps the ginge...
