I was in Wyevale garden centre (Crowland, nr Peterborough) today and they have a seed sale on. All seeds, flowers, veg, herbs etc are 50P a packet. All well known brands like suttons, unwins & thompson and morgan. I spent £8.50 and I've got over £35 worth according to the prices on the back of t...

Re: Empire Expansion

Thank you all very much for your replies! The wealth of knowledge present on this bored never ceases to amaze me! I now have a rough idea in my mind of what I want to grow and how I’m going to lay it all out and I’ll try committing it to paper today. From the look at what’s left at the end of the pl...

Empire Expansion

After about 6 months on the waiting list I have now been assigned an allotment just round the corner from me. It’s actually a half plot but that’ll do just fine for starters. I went down today and measured up and it’s roughly 4.5m x 20.5m (just under 1000 sq ft in old money) of assorted mud, half a ...

Never made it so can't help with the recipe, but for future reference, you can get it from http://www.summernaturals.co.uk/ but they're closed for orders till the 16th. Couple of online home brew shops do it too, http://www.thehomebrewshop.co.uk/ I just went here (http://www.thehomebrewshop.co.uk) ...

You think I could fit a wave turbine to my wildlife pond? The pigeons create one hell of a tidal wave when they 'drop' in!

Mail Order Seeds

As it’s about time to start planting I need to buy my seeds.
In the past I have got them from Suttons via their website, and although they are probably not the cheapest I've never had any complaints.

Where does everybody else get theirs? Has anyone got any tips to share?

Maybe we should start a SS dating service!

Or maybe more practical would be a register of people looking to meet others (for friendship, romance or free loan of garden tools) in their area.
A list organized by region or county would be easy to do. Thoughts?

Excessive packaging

I was reading this [ http://consumerist.com/344213/staples-packages-five-small-notepads-in-five-separate-boxes ] the other day and thought what a good thing it is that I don’t deal with any companies that do things like that. Then I got this from ebuyer.com this morning. http://www.pheos-online.co...

I thought of that but I'd be embarrassed to give this one away. Its prob ten years old and is covered in stains.
Its spent the last 5 years as a make shift mattress topper.
