How the business is going

We have had a lots of ups and downs with our dream to become commercial green vegie growers. We put a sign at the beginning of this week and are averaging 2 customers per day. It is not going to makeus rich but it is helping to pay the electricity bill for the system. We are going to do a leaflet dr...

Are the leaves fragrant when you crush them? It looks like a sort of Eucalyptus - there are dozens of varieties.

Vege garden is still fine, though only planting root veggies in it now as the tunnel house will grow all the green leaf veggies.

Re: We have gone and done it

we needed to get our up and running quickly so hired somone to do the installation, however had we had more time then we would have done it ourselves, especially as we now know what is involved. There are three main parts to the system - the gulleys which you can make out of pretty well anything - d...

Re: All shook up

thought I had better check in. A very scary quake but no major damage here, although either the house or the deck is no longer horizontal and one or the other has risen or sunk, not sure which.
I am just so fed up of the after shocks.

Re: We have gone and done it

seeds are growing nicely, however after the quake we will need to re build the flood and drain table as instead of being horizontal it is the plant seedling equivalent of a roller coaster. Fortunately non of the plants were lost and the tunnel house withstood it fine.

Re: Most hated vegetable Poll

I am not voting as I dont dislike any, however I wil stick up for brussle sprouts - love em. I think the problem is not with the vegetable, but with how people cook them.

Re: Anyone thinking about growing hydroponically?

So hopefully next year I will have great fun finding out just what will grow hydroponically and what won't. :study: pretty well anything can be grown hydrponically, you just may have to change the particular method as things like bananas are suited to NFT sytems and have to be grown in large pots o...

Re: Anyone thinking about growing hydroponically?

old fella, you climate should not prevent you growing hydroponically. Our place gets temperatures into the 40C s and is usually well above 30C for 3 months of the year. The hottest temperature we have ever measured was 46C in the garage which does not have a clear roof). What you will need to do is ...
