Re: Birth-to-potty or sized nappies?

Thanks grubbysoles, Maybe I'd better get a few more nappi nippas then! Or maybe that would mean I'd just lose more.... I'll see about some muslins for the early days too. I 'm just feeling a bit nervous about cloth nappies because I don't know ANYBODY in real life who uses them - so I'm going...

Re: Birth-to-potty or sized nappies?

Dragging up an old thread. Thank you for all these ideas... I'm just trying to build up a stash of nappies for my LO (only 8 weeks to go!). Unfortunately, I have no idea about a second hand cloth nappy market here in Switzerland and freecycle hasn't really taken off here either. So I figure I'll jus...

Re: For expectant mums...

I'll remember to pack some bananas for hospital then! I have my hospital's information evening tonight, so I should find out what their policy on drugs and other things are. Apparently they like things quite natural here in Switzerland though, which is good. Hopefully I'll be able to understand at l...

Re: Starting window sill garden- questions

I have two window boxes outside the window containing lettuces, radishes, basil, mint and parsley. All are doing well so far - and my apartment faces east too! Inside on the window sill I have small cherry tomoto plants and peppers. I can't really say how well they will do yet because it's my first ...

Re: Elimination Communication 'no nappies'

Can't comment on the practice since my baby hasn't been born yet! But the book is good - although I don't want to swap mine... You can probably manage without it though if you really want to have a go - there is tons of information online: e.g. http://www.diaperfreebaby.org/ If you try it Clara, I'd...

Re: Should Kids Start School Later?

I agree with what has been said about play-based learning for young children - and parents as primary educators. I was sent to school at the normal time, but my Mum still did wonderful activities with us at home and really cared about our learning. My current feeling is that my children will not go ...

Wow, that's quite beautiful! I've used plastic bottles as vases before, but I just cut off the top and stuck the flowers in  This is in a whole different league...

Re: Should Kids Start School Later?

Yes - having done volunteer work in primary schools in the past, some of the kids are simply not ready to learn formally at the age of four. This means that they fall behind with reading etc. and thus begin a cycle of feeling like a failure which follows them through their school career. If you wait...

Re: what are you sowing?

Herbs: Rosemary, parsley, mint and basil (nothing showing yet - I posted about the basil on another thread). I thought herbs were supposed to be easy to grow but it looks like I'm not having much luck! Lettuces, radishes, tomatoes, peppers: all seedlings now - quite pleased the peppers are growing, ...

Re: Advice from doc re baby sleeping - hadn't heard this before

I don't have a baby (yet) so can't comment from experience. However here is what the Baby Centre website has to say about baby's sleep: http://www.babycentre.co.uk/baby/sleep/understanding/ It seems that what you are describing is normal sleep for a up to three month old. The page says that babies d...
