Re: Avocados

Thanks guys. I might leave the one on the windowsill for a but longer then, it seems a shame to give up after such a long time when it might be nearly there! The airing cupboard idea is a good one, think they like the heat so i might try that as well. JuzaMum, do you think you'll ever get any avocad...

Re: Missing plums

Made some the other day and lots of plum crumbles. My fingers have gone brown from cutting so many plums in half to get rid of stones! They look filthy despite washing hundreds of times. I'd wear gloves to do it but that just makes it really fiddly.

Re: Apple and elderberry juice

Sounds delicious! Would you need a proper apple press to make apple juice or is there a cheats way?

Avocados

Hi all, I'm trying to grow an avocado tree from a stone in a shop bought avocado, more for interest than anything else. I googled how to grow it and at the moment it's sitting half in water, suspended by some needles stuck into it resting on the top of the pot. It's been on my windowsill about 3 wee...

Re: Missing plums

I've had hundreds so don't know what's happened to yours I'm afraid. Although saying that, some were from a tree my son was given last winter so first year we've had it. Most were from a tree in the garden of a house we've just moved into so although I think it's hundreds, may be far less than norma...

Re: How do you consume your blackberries?

I've made blackberry jam, apple and blackberry crumble, apple and blackberry pie, apple and blackberry muffins, breakfast smoothies and hot and cold porridge (mix blackberries with porridge oats over night and in the morning stir in yoghurt to eat). Also had some with ice cream or yoghurt and the oc...

Re: Mushroom spore plugs in live trees?

I'd be interested to know too. I was going to buy my mother-in-law a mushroom box for her birthday and some plugs too. I tried the plugs before but think it would be easier and nicer on a living tree. My parents have a living tree with mushrooms growing on, not just at the bottom but in a branch qui...
