Re: Homemade Sausage/Burger Recipes

Hi all,

I managed to make 7lbs of pork, pork & sage and pork & crumbled black pudding over the weekend.

Quite please with the first attempt.

Will be making more with new flavours.

Thanks for all your advice.

Re: Cutting back hardy herbs ???

Thanks Daz, i use this method for other plants so will try it with rosemary.

It`s a good tip for getting the cutting to root in water, i have great success doing this with mint so will give it a go.

I`ll let you know if i`m successful.

Re: Homemade Sausage/Burger Recipes

Thanks Oldjerry, I always thought the dried would be inferior to the fresh for some reason. I`ll give Smiths a try on the google today. I set the sausage machine up last night and had a good read of the instructions, it seems straightforward ... she says. I`ll post a photo of the results. Thanks aga...

Re: Homemade Sausage/Burger Recipes

Thanks guys, my mouth is watering at the different ideas. I`ve just been told there is a local shop stocking all sorts of sausage making delights so will have to give that a visit. I`d love to make my own black pudding but it`s hard to get the blood unless you want the dried stuff ... will have to s...

Re: Homemade Sausage/Burger Recipes

Thanks Tony,

This is one that will be tried.

My sage bush is going a bit wild at the moment so it will give me an excuse to give it a trim and put the leaves to good use.

Thanks again.

Re: Cutting back hardy herbs ???

Thanks boboff, i`ll take your advice with the cutting. I`ve already got my secateurs sharpened for the task. I`ve tried to propogate from cuttings but had no success with rosemary or sage, i only managed the thyme. I freeze like you say, it`s a great way of saving herbs for a rainy day, the kitchen ...

Cutting back hardy herbs ???

Hi guys, I`m in need of a little advice. I have some large half-barrels of hardy herbs such as sage, rosemary etc. They are rather large at the moment and in full flower. I want to cut them back to keep some sort of order but am unsure as to the correct time to do this. I assume i wait until the flo...

Re: Crewe, Cheshire says hello.

Hi Diggernotdreamer, thanks for the reply.

It`s a busy time of the year dealing with veg and livestock so i`m sure i`ll get to speak with more members soon. I`ll be on the plot tomorrow battling against the onslaught of weeds which always seem to grow quicker than the veggies .....

Crewe, Cheshire says hello.

Hi guys, hope you are all well. I`m Nikki from Ettiley Heath and have just bought my own home in Crewe, Cheshire. Aims are to be as self-sufficient as I can be with the restraints of the modern society. I have a good sized allotment which is thriving and hope to grow more at home with the inclusion ...
