I`m very grateful for those positive comments.
It`s made me think hard about how useless it is to grit the teeth and store things up that could explode later.
Thank you very much.

Rubbish 'carer'.
I guess that midnight rants aren`t the thing for true ish-es, but - - - I wait on my OH hand, foot and finger and that`s fine. Although I know that many people who use a wheelchair are able to do a bit for themselves. Still - everybody`s different and he`s never been what yer could call domestic. He...

Re: What are you havesting
Picked the redcurrants and made jelly. Picked the last two cherry tomatoes - and ate them. Pulled a few sticks of rhubarb from new clumps. This year I`m adjusting to losing two productive allotment plots so it`ll be all systems go in containers and little beds next year. (Gardening`s all about 'next...

Another returner!
Morning everyone. I`ve been out of it for quite a while and things have changed so much so I thought I`d re-introduce myself. My OH has a progressive disability which has resulted in many changes to our life - we had to give up our allotments for one thing. He now uses wheelchair - stairlift - bath ...

Leaving the allotments
We`ve had to give up our beloved allotments! My OH has become wheelchair dependent and has limited mobility in his arms. I thought that I`d be able to carry on but he is also becoming increasingly 'me-dependent' and I just couldn`t get up to the site often enough to maintain the plots. So now we`ve ...

Re: private allotment rents/prices
My plot is on a private site. We have water standpipes close to each plot, good security, a community greenhouse, community leisure areas including a workshop with electricity for plot holders` use, flush toilets, disabled access all areas, a helpful committee who keep the site well maintained and a...

That`s been my experience too. The same hives swarmed last year and they just swarmed around me and moved on to a nearby tree.

Same here! A bit harder for children to ignore jibes from their peers though. Still, they`ve grown up all right - and still forage.

Re: I went out faraging, apparently I am not normal
A couple of years ago my grandsons returned from a berry picking walk really upset. A group of school 'friends' had seen them and started name calling - 'Saddoes' 'Tramps' 'Your Mam`s too mean to buy food for you.' 'Your Mam makes you scavenge for your dinner.' etc etc. It was the 'your Mam' insults...

Re: Bees...
We`ve got a bee problem on our allotment site, i.e. a plot holder who goes hysterical if any honey bees go near her! There are hives on a neighbouring plot and they`ve never been any bother. I got a three page letter from the hysterical one reporting a 'sustained and vicious attack' on her and her d...

Do you still live on the dairy farm? What do you plan to do when you`re 'back on your feet'?

Re: Hello everyone!
Welcome Lentil, sounds as though you`re already very 'ish'. I`ve always fancied spinning myself. Have you got a wheel or do you use a drop spindle or something? I love felting too! There`s something so basic about it.
