Re: Should chocolate be outlawed?

Now I'm confused (obviously due to lack of chocolate!) - I'm reading this thread and posting this reply on Sunday evening - but Green Aura has posted tomorrow morning!!! :? Is chocolate the magical ingredient for time-travel ?? :dontknow: now it's added an hour on me! Have had to go and check the ot...

Re: Feeling S.A.D

I'd been willing myself to get to half-term and then in my head winter is over! BUT snow this morning - I'm now willing myself to get through Feb (and an extra day of it this year). On March 1st my shorts and fit-flops come out - don't care how cold it may be - my Spring is starting then regardless!...

Re: How much is housekeeping?

I think it would be good to think about why they want to know. If it's for a loan, they want to know you can afford it - so if income is more than housekeeping + bills they would know you could afford repayments. However, if it's for a grant or something then you want housekeeping + bills to be more...

Re: Feeling sorry for myself

Hi Bonnie, Thank you for sharing this. I too did my sums (pay day was yesterday) and realised how less than I would like is left for the rest of the month (my MOT is due too!). Once the monthly bills are taken out I divide what's left into weekly amounts - I find that it's easier to find I've no mon...

But that's the joy of cats! Put our Christmas tree up today and the cat is already eyeing it up. She decided it was a good place to sleep last year - largest Christmas decoration ever

Re: TV licence - are we being conned?

I'm guessing they were actually told "a" year's licence. I just started having to buy a licence and mine started from Sept 2011. If there is any choice in when they move (or at least declare to the licencing!) be aware that it is back-dated to the start of the current month. I bought mine ...

Re: DIY Wormery

And me!! I couldn't think of a use for my broken water butt, and was holding onto it - AND I wanted a wormery but couldn't afford one - my composting has been a failure so I'm hoping this is better (any how it's against my principles to let a creature die unnecessarily so I'll have to care for my wo...

Re: Raised bed - how deep? What to grow?

Hi Flo and Boboff - thanks for the reply. I shall buy in sufficient topsoil to bring the level up to the top of the concrete surround - this must be about 10 inches. Am glad to hear I won't need to dig!! Will try to add some sort of cloche system - am lucky that I have a large conservatory, so that ...

Re: Raised bed - how deep? What to grow?

Hi! Thanks for the info. I've managed to grow tomatoes (I love being able to go out and just pick what I need fresh), courgettes and salad leaves just in containers on the patio this year, so I'll definitely be doing those. I've put in a few onions, just because someone gave me those, but they can g...

Re: Raised bed - how deep? What to grow?

Sorry, didn't explain properly. There is a path already in the middle from when it was a greenhouse. From there I can reach it all without treading on the soil. I intend to either make sides to the path and then the topsoil will be in basically a long U shape, or fill in the whole area with soil and...

Raised bed - how deep? What to grow?

Ooooo ........excited now, I've never asked a question before  My old greenhouse was beyond repair. The glass and frame were removed ages ago. But the base and concrete(?) sides are still there. It's about 6ft by 10ft, and the concrete sides are about 8 inches high. Could someone tell me how d...

Re: Minime and the dragging diagnosis

I will qualify this from the start by saying I have no medical training whatsoever (my kids laugh as although I am well-educated I still call anything scientific I don't understand "magic" ), but has anyone considered if her symptoms are anything to do with the amount of antibiotics ...

Re: What does your home smell of?

I was having a problem with mould in the bathroom. By chance one of the children left all of their charcoal for art in the bathroom - no more mould (well a little bit, but I was having to bleach the wall and ceiling every week, I need to do it now but this is after about 2 months, and nothing like a...

Re: Minime and the dragging diagnosis

Hi Mrs F, Sorry to hear little one has had, and continues to have such a rough time. It must be a constant worry. I would ask the GP to refer you back to the consultant, as I'm presuming the ENT consultant is likely to say that this is beyond his remit and not be able to put your mind at rest. From ...
