101 ways to earn a little extra cash

I'm after things to supliment a household income and which I can do from home. Here's what I've come up with: 1. Deliver yellow pages using my pram with my baby strapped to my front. 2. Count votes at local or national elections. 3. Work for a sex call line thingy (Mr. QB said no to this one, odd th...

Re: Any tips to help back ache.

I recently hurt my back as a result of having a baby and all my joints loosening up. I've been seeing a physiotherapist and she's got me doing exercises strengthening the mussles around my tummy and pelvic flour and it's really helped. I've been doing the exercises lots each day and I've found there...

Flax and linen

Hello,

I've read that with a couple of square metres of flax you can harvest enough fibre to make a garment.

- does anyone grow flax?
- how do you gro flax?
- how do you process fthe plant to make fibres for spinning?

Thank you

Re: Self sufficientish Toilet Paper

Erm, as a student my housemates and I stopped buying loo roll to save money.

We each had a jug by the loo and poured water down behind us and washed with our left hand then washed our hands with soap and water.

Re: How do I seal a beer bottle using natural material?

Try cloth soaked in hot wax. Put it on the top while it's still liquid and tie it down with a bit of string. When dry it should be air tight. I've only read about this though and never done it myself.

Mr. QB is a biologist and says that the bacteria in our bodies weighs more then our bodies! Now I knew my feet were a bit grim but that's gross!

Teething

Hello,

My little one is starting to teeth. Does anyone have any ideas for alternatives to the plastic toys for him to chew on? He's still very little (four months) so isn't great at gripping things. He can hold small rings best.

Thank you.

Re: Breast feeding, socially unacceptable or not?

Hello, Yesterday morning I took my little chap to my Quaker meeting. He slept through the whole thing but during tea woke up and wanted his own drink. I breast fed him and no one batted an eyelid, though the young chap handing out buscuits did pass me by  I think it was a success. Where else ca...

Mr. QB has used a five gallon plastic container for wine making. It worked fine though it was designed for beer making.

I got some from RHS Wisley in Surrey a couple of years back for Mr. QB. However none of them grew, it could have been us or the seeds. Let us know if you have any success.

Re: How do I learn to make my own clothes?

Hello, Start simple; try things like an apron, shopping bag, straight baggy trousers or utailored summer top for sewing. For knitting and crochet try scarfs, hats and socks. It can also be useful to start with baby or childrens' clothes as it doesn't matter if they come out a tad wonky and you use l...
