Tomatillos-To pinch or not to pinch
We've got some Tomatillos in the polytunnel. Wondering if I need to pinch them out as one does with tomatoes? None of the books :study: on our shelves mention them. The packet says nothing more than when to plant, temperature etc. The "googlebane" :dontknow: results are all very non commit...

Re: Weeds, weeds and more weeds. Help!
I don't think there is a wrong or right way to do any sort of gardening and growing. It all depends on what time, stamina and method you prefer. I do what I do because it works for me and I hate digging, some people like digging, some people dig because that is the way they have always done it. I t...

Re: Weeds, weeds and more weeds. Help!
We've got what is essentially a meadow (With all manner of grasses and perennial weeds) that we've turned into our veg patch. It's hard work but we double dug as per the John Seymour method. Nothing has grown back, in terms of weeds except some annuals. Is that worth a go? I know there are some argu...

Re: Hardy Perennials
http://zone5.org/2012/04/growing-perennial-vegetables/ This is a book review by my friend Graham from his Zone 5 website Check it out Ooo that''s the book we're using. It's great. Loads of good stuff almost spoiled for choice! Which is sort of why I asked the question and it's always good to get a ...

Re: Hardy Perennials
Excellent, my thoughts exactly. I'm constantly amazed by the reaction when I tell people "I'll just check John Seymour or (of course) the self sufficientish bible" So many just say-"Why don't you just google it" and whip out their phones then spend 10min finding a signal and sift...

Hardy Perennials
Hi, not been on for a while, due to doing an awful lot of self sufficient living! We're looking to set up a perennial veg area on our land. Here en Haute Correze we have two related obstacles. Temperature which can get as low as -20 in the winter and snow cover, this year we were covered for nearly ...

Re: Moving country to be self sufficient
Hey it's been a while as we've been sans internet since we got here. Rather than bore everyone here with our exploits it's already on our blog. (Shameless plug I know but it seems pointless writing it down twice) So if you want to see what we've been up to just click on the bottom link. The ish bibl...
