Hi
I tried an Eco wash ball (plastic ball full of ceramic beads). I got a refund as it was rubbish, it didn't seem to do anything so I back using non-bio liquid. Not tried the soap nuts.

Re: Any home edders out there?
Hi Pumpkin and piglet When I looked into Home Ed I found there is a local group for home eding parents to meet up with others so the kids can socialise. Also kids can go to cubs/rainbows/judo etc to meet others. My older two (18 and 15) are in mainstream education and I have not been impressed. My l...

Re: take your Canvas Bags to the supermarket
I get my big shop delivered and sometimes I will get bags with one item in! I have canvas bags for when I go out shopping but 'helpful' shop staff sometimes put my shopping in a bag despite me asking them not too.

Clean labels off jars
I have made a few jams this year and also had my first go at chutney making. I reuse old jars but have trouble removing the labels on some. They sometimes leave a nasty sticky residue. Any ideas please?

Re: Composty questions
Hi Pumpkin and piglet
I think you need to get the right mix of greens and browns in your composter. Bits of veggy waste are all greens. You could try adding stuff like egg boxes, shredded newspaper, empty toilet roll tubes etc.

Re: Wine grape recipes please
Hi all picked grapes and followed Thomzos recipe but with minimal water. I got 3.5 pints of lovely tasting and beautifully coloured juice (I wish there was more - it's Shloerish)but am not getting any set. Have boiled and boiled away with the sugar and lemon juice. What next - more boiling or do I a...

Re: Going car-free(ish)
We went from a 2 car family to a one car family a few years ago but going car free is a long way off. The school our little ones will go to is 10 miles away and we can't afford to move house :(. However I do walk to the shops and use buses mostly. Why do people think I am strange that I choose to wa...

Re: Wine grape recipes please
Thanks for the responses - I think I will try some grape jelly and some juice for the table. I like the idea of adding a few whole grapes to the jelly jar to pretty things up. When I am organised and have time (ha ha) I would like to make jams and jellies for Xmas pressies but still haven't finished...

Are you ish by nature or nurture?
Hi all I wondered wher you all got your ishyness from? I am becoming more ishy the older I get. I was brought up in town (still in the same town now). I never learnt anything about trees, plants, gardening etc. I remember refusing to eat fruits a friend had scrumped as they were 'dirty'! Produce had...

Wine grape recipes please
Hi My nextdoor neighbour has a grapevine hanging over my fence. There are several bunches of dark fruit hanging that I can see and more on her side that she doesn't want (she says I am welcome to them). I hate to let these things go to waste but have no interest in winemaking at the moment (breastfe...
