Re: Drive a stake through the heart of winter, please!

Man, I've just come back from Olhão, Portugal and i can say with total sincereity that i drove a tannin laden stake through that heart of winter. :hugish: Spring is coming. Just enjoy the yin a wee while longer. That yang of summer can sometime be just as bad. I've been riding that vibe in preparati...

Re: Dig my own clay

I'm not sure if sand is that much of a problem.Too much clay content means that the pot or brick or thumb pot will warp slightly when you fire it. That is why they add sand to brick clay; to get a standardised shape, unfortunately that means that the bricks don't weather quite so well. The diferent ...

Re: ish poetry

I wrote this one last year about the chalk hills in Wiltshire... The wind on down, black crow swept low Through beach wood crown, in blackthorn sloe Past shrine drunk dry through urban fill The hawks now cry, but time stood still. O’er inky sward gone to ashen shroud, Along tracks packed hard by tra...

Re: Define your alternative self

I've noticed that our school-pick-up chat produces do that wide-eyed 'do you!' amazement when you admit to doing the simplest of life functions like walking, making bread, or childrens' food *groan*. We are known as the family that don't give their children refined sugar; like some freak show exhibi...

Re: Define your alternative self

yep, we get to shape our own existence. Sounds like you are doing well by yours. :sunny: I've often toyed with the idea of creating a map that links physical places i assess by limit and discern to be what feels right. It would very quickly become a multidimensional map with the physical reality of ...

Re: Define your alternative self

^That sounds like a nice scene you've got there. Maybe one day i'll head up there. It is interesting that certain parts of the country have a history of being more small holder orientated and laid back about farming. Around here farms average around 2000 acres and there are only a few smaller plots ...

Re: Define your alternative self

Alternative is a funny word, alternative for many is the 'real' and the reality of their existence that defines what and who they are. I get your meaning though.;-) :sunny: I tend to do my own thing, though in doing so i've learnt to discern what i see and what i do not, like make my experience dete...

Re: christmas, who loves it??what do you do?

I love this time of the year, but am more geared up to the solstice than Christmas. I suppose the choice of whether to celebrate the sun, or to celebrate Saturn with all of its materialism, or Christianity, or...

lots to choose from.
