Also remember that a lot of manure is contaminated with Aminopyralid, as too many people have discovered to their cost over the last three years. You should really do the "bean test" before you spread it on your ground. See this page for details of the problem and the test. http://www.grow...

The chemical that has ended up contaminated Council compost is clopyralid, a persistent broadleaved weed killer. To laboratory test for the presence of clopyralid would cost several hundred pounds, which is why it is still turning up in Council waste. The only alternative might be to carry out your ...

I have grown bulb fennel for several years, and it has never been winter hardy in Glasgow. I find it goes mushy with fairly light frosts, so I always lift it before it gets frosted. It will keep for a few weeks in the fridge after cutting.
