Re: Bye bye PSB and Kale

Ha!
Got down there in the afternoon and managed to dig over a couple of paths. Left happy thinking I'd lay some weedproof fabric and wood chip on the weekend. Got up this morning and it's only blinking snowed again! Grrr

Re: Bye bye PSB and Kale

I'm venturing down to our youth groups allotment today so crossing my fingers things will have survived.
Going to try and make a head start in laying a couple of wood chip paths (if the wood chip has defrosted!)

Re: had a wonderful old year

Some lovely 'good' things above so I thought I might share a couple of mine. My sister had a baby so now I have a lovely new neice. I managed to cycle all the through this winter with only a one week break when the roads were too dangerous due to the ice  which saved me £572 last year :cheers...

Re: Puncture proof tyres

I've used the slime inner tubes on my mountain bike and they're pretty good. Basically if you get a puncture then the slime heals the hole and gets you home. When it comes to tyres I would massively recommend schw*lbe mar*thon plus for riding about on roads / light offroad, tough as old boots and ve...

Re: Beetroot. Why do I bother?

Sorry only just saw that you'd asked for the horseraidsh dressing recipe, although 'recipe' is probably a bit grand a title  I just mix garlic (chopped finely), bit of Dijon mustard, bit of horseradish, lemon juice, olive oil and S&P. Just do it to taste really as hot or mild as you ...

Re: Pea Pest problems

Has anyone any ideas for dealing with pea weevils? I'be been catching and crushing them but my pea bed is completely infested and the plants are struggling :(
I think I've heard something about a nicotine spray but I'm not sure if this was for weevils?

Re: wild strawberries

My mum brought me some wild strawberry plants over on the train in her suitcase wrapped in damp paper and they're huge and producing this summer so I think they'll be fine to move. :thumbright:

You don't get many but they are lovely.

Re: Unwanted advice, am I over reacting?

He he.. this made me smile. I think there's one at every allotment site and if you're really unlucky it the Head of the commitee  I would give him the benefit of the doubt for a bit longer and then let the guy know he's being a pain... I have a similar problem on a plot that I help run ...

Oh friendship cake is a nice idea - I like that! Peanut butter soup? Now what is that? :dontknow:  I'm jealous of all your lovely activities. I've just got up, gone to work, sat at desk eating sandwich (pounding down outside so no lunchtime walk) sat at desk doing work, but 40 mins and :brave:
