Re: Pond Bottom Covering.

Yes DND, on the pond floor. It's just that reading around in books and on the net they tell you all kinds of things and it was getting confusing but we'll leave it clear apart from rocks for the froggies to hide in and around. We know about the aquatic soil for in the baskets and we have some friend...

Pond Bottom Covering.

We live in Orkney and have created a pond for wildlife. It has a liner not a pre-formed pond and I'd like to know what you've done about putting gravel/sand etc., in the bottom of it......or do you leave it bare. What have you done with yours? Many thanks, Claire and Dave.

Tree Guards.

I'm planning to plant willow cuttings and wondered if they'd need tree guards because of the rabbits around here?

Re: Carbonmonoxide!!

Must admit DND that it really scared us as we were watching the detector going up and up before our eyes. Something as simple as the door rope too. Thanks to all for your help and advice :)

Re: Carbonmonoxide!!

We changed the door rope and put in 10 mm rope which seems to have solved the problem. The meter is now showing 0 all the time and we're happy. Thanks guys.

Re: Carbonmonoxide!!

Certainly not GeorgeSalt! We are getting a sweep in to check over the stove as when swept 4 months ago they checked it then. Air vents are clear and we haven't altered anything so still a puzzle for now. Thanks folks.

Carbonmonoxide!!

I didn't know which section to put this...........we have an old multi fuel stove in the livingroom and it's been fine for ages then we were woken up in the night when the carbonmonoxide alarm went off. We had a look and thought it might be the door rope that needed replacing, this we did but the me...

Rabbits And Potatoes.

Can anybody tell me if potatoes would be safe to grow where there are wild rabbits about? We don't want the shoots coming through to have them eaten and ravaged by the local bunny population :angryfire:

Re: Storage heater bricks.

Thanks Carltonian Man for that info. It looks like they'll be used in a greenhouse - when we make one - for thermal heat storage. Mind you, looking out at the swamp of a garden it's hard to imagine it anything other than waterlogged!

Re: Storage heater bricks.

Thanks for your ideas folks :) We had an idea about using them to build the low wall for a lean-to greenhouse as they could retain any heat from the sun.....should we get some this summer. Not a very good shape for that but you never know, perhaps we could try it. Our stove doesn't have a back boile...

Storage heater bricks.
