Re: Change from "How" to "Why Do I?" on breadmaking machines

Gee, Ina  I just wish people wouldn't apply names so willy-nilly That was what my bread recipe book called it. I am no expert, I just follow the friggin recipes. Who cares what the poop its real name is, it still taste nice. Sorry for any offence caused. Nothing like public humiliation to b...

Re: Change from "How" to "Why Do I?" on breadmaking machines

My pumpernickel, plaits, fruit loaf, garlic rolls, various rolls and easy breads can have powdered milk added but do not. I often swap a recipe using water for a 50/50 milk/water mix. I read somewhere (google is your friend) that some recipes use milk powder to provide a softer loaf, too. But I thi...

Drum Mixer

Another simple use for a small drum - dry mixing small amounts of stuff. The particular project was concreting 2 posts into the ground in one of the chook runs. Mix all of your dry stuff in the drum. http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p251/doc58/mixing%20stuff/putinbucket.jpg Put the lid o...

Re: El Cheapo Camera stand

Try using a plastic bottle or a small beer bottle. :salute:

Should not be a problem then.

Unfortunately cordial comes in plastic bottles here and is nowhere near as much fun to empty :drunken:

El Cheapo Camera stand

This is an older post on my blog on making an el cheapo camera stand . It uses recycled port (or other quality Strayan wine) flagon bottles or even plastic bottles and costs very little to make. Best part is drinking to empty the bottle :drunken: Grab a bottle and fill with sand or dirt or rocks or ...

Re: How do I change a tap washer?

Sorry Mike, the cat is not a fake...she is a bloody nuisance at times. When I am in my work/toy shop she always gets under my feet or jumping onto the workbench. She must know I am a dog person  Ina, sorry I can not help you with your tap (or cat) problem. We have hot water (from my rocket sto...

How do I change a tap washer?

Well I thought this was a simple thing to do until recently a friend of mine paid a plumber dude to do it for her and it cost a small fortune, total ripoff :cussing: Check it out here but the gist of it is: Step 1 Turn the mains water supply off. Step 2 Check that you have really, really done step 1...

Extending a hothouse

Not sure if this is the right thread, but anyway. Scarecrow (my partner/boss/lover) :hugish: asked me to extend her shadehouse. Full details over here Basically, the side wall of the old hothouse was taken off and the frontage was extended accordingy to the size of the windows I had recently a...

Re: How do I sharpen me tools?

Hi Ina :salute: If you do not own a wire brush, you can use steel wool (brillo pads) for the same effect. A note to all the English here: And on a serious note, the cricket...a summer sport...what kind of bloody summers do you poms have over there...no play because of the rain ? live long ...

How do I sharpen me tools?

Over here I have a tutorial on sharpening secateurs and the like because over here in my part of Oz it is pruning time. Grab your tools (or in my case, have your lover give you a mountain of tools that need sharpening) :hugish: http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p251/doc58/Sharpening/allb4.jpg Give...

Re: Home made soap moulds

Allyson :salute:

On my blog I mention that there are 2 ways to get the soap out if you have problems.

One is to freeze it for a while - slightly shrinks the soap and the other is to make a pushy outer thingy with a wheel on a dowel to act as a plunger

Both work well.

Why not make one yourself.

Much cheaper than buying one and you can make it to fit your garden size perfectly.
