with the Elder I just cut a branch off and strip the bark and the leaves - we have 100's of trees near where I live so a little pruning doesn't hurt. Hawthorn... simply make a tea out of the leaves and/or flowers. I was reading articles on the net and the medical community is doing a lot of research...

Back to the parsley fungus. I had it last year but a good dose of Elder Bark tea did the trick... Boil Elder bark (old bark is better than new growth) for about an hour or so (fill a pan with strips of bark then add enough water to cover). Keep topping up the water if needed. Let it cool then spray ...

I've had a quick look, read Muddy's comments, glanced through Michaels. Simply put you talk about using gravity as the generating force. Nothing new in the concept of changing potential to kinetic energy. But can you see that the energy is only there for one cycle. Ok you're transferring mass, but w...

We're lucky where we live. There's a farmers market every Wednesday in the village and every day is you are prepared to travel to the neighbouring villages. Prices here are comparable to supermarket prices but there is of course a small premium for quality and freshness. It's a shame England moved a...

The biggest problem I found in the UK with bikes was safety - there really isn't the infrastructure for cyclists, eg lack of bicycle lanes for one thing. When I lived in Berkshire I tried cycling to work for a few weeks but then gave up as it was simply too dangerous - the drivers really were shits ...

Yep the Amercan Signal Crayfish was introduced into Europe about 30 years ago and have almost wiped out native species. They're not much of a problem in the rivers round me as we eat as many as we can catch, putting out baskets to catch them.

Just on the topic of bottling and nasty things, when I'm bottling I always pop in a Campden tablet (always have tons from the wine and beer making) It releases Sulphur Dioxide which kills off all the little beasties and ensures the contents are sterile (It isn't harmful in small doses either but don...
