Re: chickens and foxes
We had one winter where the poor sod chewed his way through heavy duty plastic to get at the hens. I actually did feel sorry for him as he must have been pretty desperate. For the UK folk it was that evil winter we had a few years back and it didn't get above -5 for a couple of months. ( I know this...

Re: rats
Hi Big Al
Glad to hear that you are getting or have chickens now. Sorry I don't have any better answers about the rat issue, As I shoot them like SouthernDave. But taking the feeder out of the run at night is a good move.
Hope all is well up north.

Re: Lonely Chick :-(
Hi, I've a broody hen sitting on nothing at the minute. If you are desperate I'll take the chick and try and convince her that she manage to hatch it, but I wouldn't worry too much about it being on it's own though. The biggest problem you are likely to get is if it is a cock bird then it will be to...

We're taking a neighbours Australian lowline cattle to the show, as she needs the help and young Master gert needs to practise his handling skills in the ring.
Hope you lot up in the North of the county are all well and good.
All the best
