Re: New to the radio

Radio 4 and the world service have kept me sane for many a year, particularly in the last 3, when I have been up at all manner of ungodly hour dealing with my two beautiful daughters! I can't tell you how many times I have began a sentence with "I heard on the radio today" I am forever liv...

Re: Oh sugar, another ethical question.

I live just up the road from a huge Sugar Beet Factory - in Cantley, Norfolk. We are in the throws of the Beet season right now, the factory is only actively producing sugar crystals for five months of the year. And you know about it as there is always the prevading smell of peanuts i the air (don't...

Autumn Themed Fancy Dress

My three year olds nursery is having an Autumn party so despite the fact that she is insistant that shes noy dressing up I want to make her something as you can bet that when she goes and sees the other children in their outfits she'll want to join in. I guess I am trying to avoid the more obvious h...

Re: My old Bag !!!

Fantastic bag, Well Done you. When I make bags I end up stitching the bottom corners (leaving a triangular flap in the inside of the bag) to create a box shape rather than a flat envelope as this means that you can pack things into it, and get it to hold its shape a little easier. It works ...

Waste free week

My local council is running a waste free week I've signed up to do it. what with small children and one in nappies and two dogs who produce their own never ending supply of unusable crap! I thought that it might be a good challenge. I even got a free shopping bag for signing up. http://www.recyclefo...

Re: old tyre recycle ideas anyone

They do make fantastically good walls - the other half is always tinkering with cars, so we generally have a few lying around the place. When they are infilled with earth they can make really strong walls, which are pretty immovable by the wind. We've also grown spuds in them too - this was a very '...

Re: Socks (Knitting)

Has anyone tried the 'toe up' method for socks yet? This means that there is no trying to negotiate with casting off at the toe end which can cause a lump. DH definately prefers this method for his work socks - as they are in boots all day, and doesn't mind about his house socks as they are generall...

Hello....Again

Spent a bit of time here in a previous guise as Daisy's Mum during 2006-7, but time constraints and the arrival of another baby meant that I have had my hands tied for a bit. Tallest is now three, and attending day nursery, and smallest is nearly 6months now, so I am beginning to get a little time f...
