Re: Electricity Usage Club

Hi Wildbee  thanks for your post. I don't actually know how much things cost, but this quarter's leccie bill is going to be about £70. I must admit I have been very slack recently, but have decided to make an effort again. I am trying to train OH to switch his computer off more often, as...

I would have thought th...

Re: ..mend a frayed shirt collar?

i don't think there's stiffeners in the collar, snapdragon (not sure what they are, but i presume they make the collar stiff??).

I'm afraid i'm very ignorant - i don't know what interlining is, either

Re: Back to our version of normality

Alice What an uplifting post. I wish you all the best in your continued renovations. I think it's lovely that your children are mixing with older people in the community, learning really interesting things & I'm sure bringing a lot of joy to the community. children are like sponges, aren't they?...

Re: Travelling Around Europe

when i travelled from Birmingham to France on Eurostar a few years ago, there was a special price from Birmingham to London (got it in the ticket office). I'm an ex-student of Birmingham Uni, didn't really use the travel office there very much tho'. You may want to look into when countries have bank...

Re: Want to leave teaching and don't know what to do

I have a friend who left teaching last summer after hating it for about 10 years. she has spent the last 6 months doing some counselling courses, and a few short term jobs. Now she is about to start a new job, doing something completely different. Although it's been tough for her financiall...

Re: argghhh! i cant take it anymore!

I sympathise with the feeling your space is invaded - i have been sharing my space with a husband for just over a year and I still struggle sometimes. Especially when he has the cheek to be home when I don't expect him! What i have realised though is my getting in a state usually means I have overdo...

Re: Improving your Ish in 2010

That bread looks great, country girl  Funnily enough I actually made my first loaf of bread for ages yesterday, mostly white spelt with a bit of white flour mixed in. It's the first one I've attempted in the oven rather than the breadmaker. Looked interesting :rabbit: but tasted quite nice, ...

Re: Home Remedies for PMT and Pains please!

hello crowsashes, congrats on a less painful period - long may they last :sunny: I don't think excess weight can cause painful periods, but maybe it is something to do with the fat cells. If I remember right, oestregen & toxins can accumulate there so maybe losing weight helps not to be too toxi...

Re: Our "Leaders" fail to lead - so what next

In fact, as i understand it, it is not the temperature of the sun but sunspots (or lack of them) that affect the earth (and other planets). However, I do agree that we need to be looking after our planet. But big governments/corporations are never going to care enough - money & power is their ga...

Re: how do I START !?

Hello fumanchu I am not a very good isher really. However, I like making home made soups, and we have started a compost, my OH tried to grow some things in the garden this year (the onions got dug up by the cats!) and he made some chutney. My big achievement recently - i sewed up some holey trouser ...
