Re: Wash muslin

Re: How do I make my house warm?

Have a look at my 'prize winning candle' post for some idea's, for this winter go for making the main living room warm and cosy whilst you live with the rest of it, and plan a budget over the winter for the rooms you need to warm up the most, freegle/was freecycle is wonderful for thick materials fo...

Re: Central heating - when do you turn it on?

We did without the heating till mid November last year, We change the timer each day when the heating goes on, so if we are going to have a lie in, its kept off, unless our lad has to get up for work, it goes on for a few hours each evening whilst we are wandering about, but is turned off once we se...

Re: cleaning & disinfecting chicken house

Give the whole thing a good blasting with a power washer if you have one, then paint it with non toxic preserver, then check for loose joints and wobbly bits, repair and repaint, you should be able to get this done in a day, if its not raining, but you might want to rehome the hens for the night? ne...

Re: What products do babies actually NEED?

The baby sleeping bags are ace, as is a travel cot, they together allow you to have a life too, you can easily carry them to others houses or elsewhere, set them up and put them to bed at their regular time, The word here is routine? at 7.30pm my(then 1 year old) son would be tired and ask for bed, ...

Re: Fox proof chicken run

This could work well... depending on the hens? my four chase me everywhere when I walk alongside their pen, so if they all did the normal they would all hit the 'see saw' at once? decapitated hens? if it where a very long see saw it could work 'al la' HFW long thin bridge to his coop? too lightweigh...

Re: Cats and Chickens

I had the same problem with neigbours cats and our ex bats, I bought some cheap garden netting and wove it onto the top of the pen fence with garden twine, it 's been in place for six months now, it keeps the cats and wild birds out, but my hens are still shut into the secure run when we are out, co...

Wow, that's a blast from the past  I remember those kilns so well, and you did really well for your first go, we used to run workshops for kids using them, (bet the elf and safety won't let you do that these days?) it was easier to collect copper back in the day, but if you chat up the local pl...
